How to get Dwarfguard

There are four ways in which you can use Dwarfguard:

  1. Commercial installation
  2. Non-commercial installation
  3. Demo version
  4. Free version

If you are looking for ways of obtaining Dwarfguard, please follow to Distributors and Partners. Should you need to contact us (Dwarf Technologies), go directly to Contacts page

Commercial installation

Commercial usage of Dwarfguard offers multiple options. You can rent a Dwarfguard deployment as SaaS where you do not need to take care about anything or you can buy a time-limited and device-number-limited license, running Dwarfguard server in the cloud or on your own hardware, potentially even in isolated environment (private network with no access to Internet).

Your best option is to contact one of the listed Distribution Partners as the Dwarf Technologies, as the product manufacturer, does not focus on sales. If you have a unique case that cannot be fulfilled by a Distributor, you would be forwarded to DT.

If you want to get a clue on what HW or how big container you need to be able to manage the number of devices you intend to, you should have a look at some benchmarks on the Performance page.

When using a commercial installation, you are entitled for some level of support. Either directly from Dwarf Technologies of from a partner, depending on who is providing the license or a service to you. The support levels are described on the Deploy Options page.

In case you are already running Dwarfguard, you can always ask for extending a license for more devices, prolonging time period or changing your support level. While in general the extension costs are lower than initial purchase, the options available to a particular case may depend on a partner deals available at the moment.

Non-commercial

If you intend to use Dwarfguard for non-commercial purposes and the free license is not good enough for you, you can try to apply for a non-commercial license from Dwarf Technologies - see Contacts Page

Please note that providing a non-commercial license is somewhat of an exception so there is no guarantee that describing your use-case to DT would end up in providing a non-commercial license to you.

Also, you would need to manage your deployment yourself which means that you need to have a Linux administrator available to install a Linux server and deploy Dwarfguard on top of that for you. To maintain a reasonable level of security, you would also need to install security patches on that server and be able to upgrade Dwarfguard once new version is rolled out. To get a clue what is needed for installation, please see Installation page.

Demo version

If you are considering purchasing a commercial license but would like to get an impression first, you have a few options depending on how you want to use Dwarfguard.

  • If you want to install and manage server yourself, feel free to deploy the Free version and try it out. While there are some limitations applied (limited number of devices and tunnels), it should be enough to get a feeling. You can upgrade simply by uploading a commercial license at anytime.
  • If you aim to use a managed server or SaaS or do not have the time to deploy Dwarfguard just to try it out, you need to request a demo being set up for you. Please continue to Contacts page.

Free version

The default Dwarfguard installation package comes with a Free license bundled in. You can usually find the package in the builds directory
